Orion: 1.5 Years

As of last week Orion is one and a half years old! This week his favorite things to do are give big cheesy grins and random hugs (which we LOVE), as well as whine a lot and refuse to eat entire meals (NOT so fun). He's always changing, so hopefully the terrible two's aren't really upon us already ;)

Here are his stats:
Height: 2'7.5" (31.5"), 35th percentile
Weight: 24lbs 8 oz, 35th percentile
BMI: (this is new!) 17.36
Head: 19.09", 75th percentile

He's finally climbing the growth chart in both height and weight!! The doc thinks maybe he's aiming for the 50th percentile after all. Aaand... he still has a big head ;) He doesn't have his next appointment until he's 2!

What he's up to:

Vocabulary: Newish words include... help, scissors, poop (I'm so proud), that, water, kick (He knows around 45 words total which blows my mind!)... and some of his pronunciations are getting better. Boz has a "z" sound now, and truck is now "gruck" instead of just "guck."

Eating: He seems to be getting pickier and pickier. He'll always eat fruit, but beyond that it's hit and miss. He's more receptive to foods if he gets to feed himself with a fork, but that's limiting and messy. Hey, he's not starving or anything since he's doing great weight-wise, but I wish he wasn't so picky! I need to take a hint from Sadie and be creative with getting him to eat veggies. He will drink vegetable juice with total abandon... which is gross.

Sleeping: Orion is a fabulous sleeper these days! He very very rarely wakes during the night, and if he does he goes back to sleep on his own. He sleeps from around 8:30 pm until usually between 7:15 and 8:15 am. He usually takes one 1.5 hr nap a day, give or take half an hour. He even slept great on vacation!

Play: O LOVES trucks... he likes to watch real ones and play with toy trucks (which is anything with wheels, including trains... although he differentiates the two with sounds). He still loves kitties and chasing them around and snuggling them. Climbing is a big favorite... chairs, ladders, and otherwise. TV wise, Boz is still the favorite, followed by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He's big on reading as long as it's interactive in some way... I usually ask him where or what things are to get him to point or name things. Being outside is one of his favorite things... the words we hear most often are "go" and "bye bye." And "no," of course ;)


Overall, Orion is a happy, healthy, crazy-active little guy. He wants to be moving all the time and is never-ending entertainment. I love how snuggly he has become and how much he learns every day. I can't imagine what he'll be like when he's two!
